Google introduces a new tool for engaging audio discussions
Google Labs has announced an exciting update to NotebookLM with the launch of the Audio Overview feature, using some advanced technology like Gemini 1.5.
This new capability allows users to transform any uploaded documents (Docs, links or pasted text) into engaging audio conversations with just a click.
In other words, a full podcast focused on the topic of your choice.
What does this mean?
Audio Overview adds a fresh layer of interactivity by introducing two AI hosts who summarize, analyze, and discuss your sources in a conversational format.
These hosts draw connections between topics, providing insights and banter based entirely on the documents you’ve shared. The audio discussion can be downloaded, allowing users to listen on the go — making it ideal for those who prefer auditory learning.
How can you use it?
I suggest you give it a try. You won’t be dissapointed.
Visit NotebookLM and create a new notebook.
Upload your sources: A link of an article, a PDF, etc.
Click the “Generate” button in your Notebook guide to create an Audio Overview.
Although the feature is still in its experimental phase and has some limitations (like longer generation times for large notebooks, English-only output, and occasional inaccuracies), its potential is clear.
